FLEX X COP EP 5

I-soo confronts Kwon Do-jun about a hidden signature in a painting. Meanwhile, Kyung-jin discovers Do-jun bought the red scarf, and also go to the art studio. At the studio, Do-jun attacks I-soo but is soon overpowered. Do-jun confesses he wanted to kill Young-jae, who had been stealing his art for ten years and taking credit for it. Young-jae also ruined other artists' careers. Do-jun's breaking point was hearing Young-jae accuse him of plagiarism to a scholarship foundation. When I-soo scolds him, Do-jun stabs himself.

Gang-hyun arrives, calls an ambulance, and questions I-soo’s handling of the situation. She's frustrated by I-soo's independent actions and lack of regard for police protocol. Reporter Gi-seok secretly films their confrontation, leading to further scrutiny.

Chan-gun and Sung-goo blame Gang-hyun for not controlling I-soo and suggest she transfer stations. Chan-gun’s resentment stems from a past case involving Gang-hyun’s father, whom Gang-hyun believes is innocent while Chan-gun disagrees.

The next morning, Jeong-hun asks I-soo to go with him to some place, while Gang-hyun and Jun-young question Do-jun. Do-jun admits he stabbed Young-jae but did not kill him. He suggests the scarf was from an errand he ran for Young-jae’s wife. Detectives suspect Hwa-young but lack evidence and decide to investigate her further.

I-soo, after a hospital check-up, seeks feedback from Kyung-jin about his handling of the Do-jun case. Kyung-jin criticizes I-soo for not coordinating with the team and highlights Gang-hyun’s responsibility for any investigation mishaps. He explains the organizational structure and the superiors’ dislike for Gang-hyun due to her father’s tarnished reputation.

Kyung-jin reveals Gang-hyun's father was a respected officer, nicknamed “Hook,” who was disgraced for bribery shortly before retirement. Gang-hyun endured the stigma and rose to be a team leader, envied by superiors. Kyung-jin drunkenly suggests Young-jae’s wife could be the murderer.

I-soo, following protocol, reports a new clue from Do-jun about a key Young-jae always carried. Gang-hyun devises a plan to bait the culprits. She misleads Hwa-young into believing Do-jun died, prompting her to contact her boyfriend, Jin-kyu. The team stages a sting operation at the bank and catches them attempting to withdraw funds. Jin-kyu quickly confesses to implicate Hwa-young.

I-soo arranges an exhibition honoring Ye-seon, whose art Young-jae stole, bringing her mother to tears. I-soo’s father sees a news report about I-soo exposing Young-jae’s plagiarism and feels proud.

Reporter Gi-seok’s boss pressures him to start a smear campaign against Myeong-chul, revealing I-soo as Myeong-chul’s illegitimate son. Meanwhile, I-soo meets Gang-hyun’s father, who remembers a past case linked to I-soo’s childhood.

Violent Crimes Team 1 gets a new case initially deemed an accidental choking. The victim’s granddaughter insists it’s suspicious, leading I-soo to discover a valuable missing artifact. The team links the case to previous unreported thefts from victims attending the same church. Forensic analysis reveals a hidden needle mark on the latest victim, indicating murder.

The team learns the church accountant’s book was stolen, suggesting the killers targeted wealthy tithers. They realize they’re dealing with professional serial murderers using disguised photographers to gain access to victims’ homes.

The detectives quickly act on I-soo’s insight about funeral photos, confirming the culprits’ modus operandi and uncovering the connection between the victims and their valuables.
