FLEX X COP EP 4
Isoo then calls Gang Hyun, who is oversleeping since it is her day off. Gang Hyun is surprised to be summoned by Isoo to the crime scene. Gang Hyun soon arrives, followed by the other members of the crime investigation team. Just by looking at Young-jae's body, Gang Hyun quickly deduces that Young-jae has been dead for more than ten hours and directs Kyung-jin to take the guests’ contacts and let them go.
Isoo is amazed by how Gang Hyun was able to determine how long the victim had been dead. Later, Gang Hyun questions Young-jae’s assistant, Kwon Do-jun. When Gang Hyun asks him if Young-jae has any enemies, he says probably not because Young-jae was kind and friendly. Do-jun arrived at the studio two hours before the exhibition to prepare the catering, then called Young-jae but couldn’t get through. So he drove to Young-jae's house and didn’t find him there either. Do-jun never expected that Young-jae had passed away. Seeing him crying, Isoo convinces Gang Hyun to let him go home. However, as Do-jun leaves, Isoo tells Gang Hyun he thinks Do-jun is the culprit and they should play good cop, bad cop to make him confess. Gang Hyun chuckles at his idea and tells him it’s not a movie.
At that moment, they are greeted by the gallery director, Joo Hwa-young. Unlike Do-jun, Hwa-young says Young-jae had a lot of haters because he had a bad temper. She also tells them about someone barging into Young-jae’s studio and spilling red paint all over his paintings, but Young-jae let the person go. When asked if she knew the person, the director said she was on a business trip. Also, the detectives won’t find anything from the CCTV in the gallery since the cameras were changed the day before. Gang-hyun and I-soo then go to see Young-jae's family. In Gang-hyun’s car, I-soo is shocked to see how messy it is. They arrive at Young-jae's large house and are surprised when Young-jae’s wife, Hwa-young, shows no emotion upon hearing the news of his death. She even calls Young-jae a jerk and says he deserves to die. She seems somewhat happy about his death and tells the detectives that her alibi is being out with her boyfriend all night.
Afterwards, I-soo asks to go home since he has some things to do. Mr. Cho and the staff are moving I-soo’s belongings into the house opposite Gang-hyun’s family home. Gang-hyun’s mom notices this and tells her husband. I-soo arrives at the house and walks in, realizing it is his childhood home where he lived with his mom. Seeing the furniture brings back many memories.
Gang-hyun’s mom comes over and walks in to check out the house as a typical nosy neighbor. When I-soo, confused, asks what she wants, Misook introduces herself as the village master and gives him the contact number for a repair service. At the police station, the detectives check the CCTV footage of the road in front of the gallery and find a woman arriving by taxi the night young jae’s painting was spilt red paint. Gang-hyun asks Kyung-jin to investigate, but it's supposed to be Kyung-jin's day off and he has a date with his girlfriend, so Gang-hyun lets him go.
Seung-jun learns that Hee-ja kicked I-soo out of the house and tells her to stop harassing him. Hee-ja starts crying and talks about how much she suffered because of I-soo’s mother. Meanwhile, Myeong-chul arrives home and overhears the conversation. He texts an unknown woman, informing her about I-soo moving back to his old house, and the woman tells him not to let I-soo stay there as it might help him regain his memory. The next morning, Gang Hyun and I-soo realize that they have become neighbors, and I-soo remarks that Gang Hyun doesn’t resemble her mother’s warm nature at all. Gang Hyun's car suddenly breaks down, and she has no choice but to go to work with I-soo.
They go to Young-jae’s gallery to talk to his assistant again and ask about the incident with the woman who spilled red paint on the painting. The assistant shows them a recording of the confrontation, where the woman jumps in, attacks Young-jae, and accuses him of revealing something that shouldn’t be revealed, calling him a murderer. They notice she was wearing a red scarf.
At the police station, Ji-won tells Junyoung about the way the attacker killed Young-jae and that the culprit could be a woman. Ji-won also found a piece of red thread under Young-jae’s nail.
Meanwhile, Gang Hyun and I-soo go to see the woman, Gyeong-sun, who blames Young-jae for her daughter’s death. Young-jae was her daughter’s advisor and started plagiarizing her work, presenting it in exhibitions as his own. The mother and daughter did everything they could, including reporting Young-jae to the news and even suing him, but no one believed her daughter. When they refused Young-jae’s offer to send her daughter abroad to study, which turned out to be a trick to countersue them by claiming Gyeong-sun’s daughter plagiarized his work, it led to her daughter's suicide. And that’s why Gyeong-sun went to confront Young-jae the other day. However, her alibi on the day Young-jae was killed is that she was working at the sauna.
At the police station, Junyoung informs everyone that based on the autopsy results, it seems the culprit was hesitant to stab Young-jae; the second wound, which was the one that led to his death, appeared hesitant. Later, the detectives gather information on the potential suspects: Young-jae’s wife and her boyfriend, the assistant, and Gyeong-sun.
Junyoung finds out that Young-jae’s wife’s boyfriend is dating another woman, so he goes after her and questions her. She tells him that Jin-kyu was talking about starting a business since he found an investor. The detectives also find out Young-jae had taken out life insurance, which explains why his wife now has a lot of money to give her boyfriend.
They suspect that Young-jae’s wife and her boyfriend leveraged Gyeong-sun's hate for Young-jae and intentionally removed all the cameras at the gallery to put the blame on Gyeong-sun. Meanwhile, I-soo went to Young-jae's gallery and took the painting stained with red paint home.
At night, he finds a mouse at home and gets freaked out. He then calls Gang-hyun to come to the rescue, and she sees how lonely he is.
The next day, the detectives call in the wife and the boyfriend for questioning. The wife says she did not kill her husband for the two billion in death insurance since she is not planning on giving her boyfriend two billion for his business; instead, she plans on breaking up with him. She tells Gang-hyun they need to look into the assistant since he has a motive because he has been slaving away at Young-jae’s side, hoping to get a debut through his help, but Young-jae did nothing to help him out.
Apparently, Do-jun was secretly planning to travel abroad for studies under the sponsorship of the Artist’s Foundation. Junyoung thinks the wife might be buying time to escape, but Gang-hyun believes they should also investigate Do-jun.
At home, I-soo realizes that after he dropped Young-jae's painting due to the rat yesterday, one piece of it got broken and revealed another painting underneath it, with a signature similar to Do-jun’s. He goes to the gallery to question Do-jun about it.
Meanwhile, Gang-hyun questions a staff member from the Artist Foundation who reveals that Do-jun was selected for a scholarship to study abroad, but his academic adviser called and accused him of plagiarism, leading to his scholarship being canceled.
At the police station, Kyung-jin finds out that Do-jun bought a scarf similar to Gyeong-sun's. He calls Gang-hyun to inform her, and she rushes to Young-jae's gallery to arrest Do-jun.
At the same time, I-soo confronts Do-jun about his lie, and the latter knocks him out from behind.
