The Investigation Continues
Dove arrives at Mrs. O'Shea's house and finds Sean's burnt-out car there. She enters and sees Sean and Mrs. O'Shea talking casually. She has a shocking discovery that they are actually mother and son. Sean doesn’t seem too bothered about his car being burnt to a crisp, and Dove questions him about who could have done this. He thinks it could be his ex or rivals in his taxi business.
The Team's Discovery
Dove goes upstairs and finds Gilbert, who is concerned about her condition. Dove pushes him back to his room and informs him about the men who attacked her. Gilbert thinks Dove should tend to her injuries, but Dove is eager to follow the lead. She advises Gilbert to be cautious around Sean, as it turns out he’s Mrs. O’Shea’s son. Later, the team meets again to discuss the case. Dove struggles to focus on what Gilbert has to say and instead spots the file that Emmy stole from Sergeant Power. She quickly finds out the unknown boy's name is Edward P., found on the roadside by a nun named Sister McDonagh.
The Convent Visit
The next day, the team visits the convent where Sister McDonagh stays and is greeted by Reverend Mother Bernadette, who offers them a tour. Dove asks to see Sister McDonagh, but the Mother makes excuses not to let them. Mother Bernadette shows them how the convent is running a business with a yoga retreat center and organic farm and kitchen. Gilbert is amazed by that, while Dove thinks it’s ridiculous how they're making a profit from something totally against their beliefs. Now it’s time for Mother Bernadette to interrogate Dove. She has done her research and knows who Dove really is. She mentions Dove’s name is actually Dubheasa and that she was the young girl in Dublin who started a fire in an abbey. This seems like Dove’s weak spot, and she is too stunned to speak. Running out of patience, Dove speaks to a cook about Sister McDonagh, claim to be her niece to get the location of her room, then sets off the fire alarm to create a distraction and sneaks upstairs to the nun's room. Sister McDonagh reveals that Edward, also known as Teddy( the man they saw singing at the pub the other day), was found by the roadside with no memory and is related to Sergeant Power. Just at that moment, Mother Bernadette finds out about it and kicks them out of the convent, threatening to sue them if they dare to use the record from Sister McDonagh on their podcast.
Local Leads
On the ferry back to the mainland, Gilbert is very upset about what Dove did and thinks they shouldn’t squeeze people for information. Meanwhile, Dove thinks the people in town are intentionally hiding something and that the case is more serious than they thought.
As the ferry lands, Sean is waiting for them at the port. Dove asks him what Teddy's surname is, and when he says it’s Power, they learn there is likely some connection between Teddy and Sergeant Power, who intentionally concealed the identity of the missing boy on the case file. They ask Sean to bring them to see Teddy, and he drives them to Teddy’s blacksmith workshop. Emmy is concerned about the car's safety condition, but they go anyway.
Initially, Teddy refuses to talk no matter how hard Gilbert tries to make conversation. Dove observes him for a while, then purposely cuts her hand. She feels that Teddy is a soft person and will more easily open up to vulnerable people. She is correct; he sits her down and tends to her wound while Dove starts to ask him questions about Fiona. Teddy reveals to her that Fiona was his teacher, who was also as close to him as a friend. She would take him home after school and make him dinner so he wouldn’t be alone. Just at that moment, Sergeant Power barges in and shouts at the podcast team, telling them to leave Teddy—his son—alone. He threatens to arrest the team if they ever try to talk with Teddy again. Gilbert again starts to scold Dove for her style of working when Dove defends herself. Emmy interrupts them multiple times until they stop fighting. She points out that Sean is no longer waiting for them and they have to walk back. Damien calls Dove to inform her about a new problem: the police require her to be in court regarding the NHS case she investigated. Damien advises her to keep a low profile and let the lawyers do their jobs. Dove hangs up nervously and joins the other two to walk back to the town center. They are stopped by a farmer named Darragh, who tells them that Frank was looking for them; however, Gilbert can’t recall who Frank is. Gilbert somehow becomes interested in this farmer and asks him more about his farm while Dove again can’t stand small talk. Gilbert asks Darragh about Teddy and Fiona, and he says Teddy used to follow her around like a puppy. When asked about Malachy instead, he suddenly appears nervous and makes an excuse to leave. Meanwhile, Sean is on the other side of town buying weapons from a woman. The podcast team continues their stroll and stumbles upon villagers playing road bowling. Dove talks to some locals to ask questions about the missing people, but learns nothing new except that Malachy was a champion bowler. Gilbert sees Seamus and asks him about Frank. Seamus tells him that Frank is a new age traveler who has camped around the area since the 60s. Seamus also tells Gilbert that he wasn’t in town during the last Samhain festival and doesn’t know any details about the disappearance. Dove and Emmy talk to a woman who photographs bowling winners for the local paper. Dove asks if she has Malachy's picture since he was a bowling champion. The lady tells them she doesn’t keep the pictures, but they can likely find it in one of the old local newspapers. The two try to look up online to see if they can find any archive of the newspaper but cannot, and they have to go to the local library. However, Gilbert can’t go this time because he already promised “the boys”—some old locals—to come with them to the pub. Dove and Emmy are disappointed to hear the news.
Outside the girls luckily get a lift on a tractor from a local who offers to drive them to the library. Meanwhile, at the pub, Gilbert meets Frank and a woman who shows him a silly video of him drunk the other night while tell him he lost €8,000 to Frank and force him to pay. Gilbert says he doesn’t have this kind of money lying around but reluctantly agrees to pay them.
Major Discovery
Dove and Emmy arrive at the library, but it is already closed. They decide to break in through the window and find a newspaper clipping showing Malachy and Seamus from the year before Malachy vanished. They discover Seamus's real name is Jack McFadden, a notorious smuggler known as the "Badger." They rush back to the hotel to inform Gilbert, but Mrs. O'Shea interrupts with shocking news: Darragh has been found dead. The three immediately go to the crime scene and see Darragh's dead body lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
