The scene shifts back to a few hours before the incidents occur, when Han Tae-oh is reviewing information about In-ju to plot his revenge for a previous attack, suspecting that In-ju is involved in a drug distribution network. Meanwhile, In-ju uses photos he captured of Hye-won and Tae-oh kissing to force her to call Tae-oh. He threatens Tae-oh and demands a meeting or he will harm Hye-won.
Tae-oh immediately drives to In-ju's club where In-ju is already waiting for him. In-ju blackmails Tae-oh, and Tae-oh counterattacks by revealing he knows about In-ju's embezzlement and his drug distribution network.
Simultaneously, in his office, Joong-mo is informed by Hyuk-jin about the person who attacked Tae-oh, Mo-gi-jun. Although he is the team leader of Kang-oh Securities on paper, he actually works for In-ju.
However, In-ju threatens to destroy Hye-won's life with pictures proving her romantic involvement with Tae-oh, and Hye-won being Tae-oh's only weakness forces him to kneel before In-ju. He orders that from now on Tae-oh must serve him and obey any command or else he will ruin Hye-won's life.
Subsequently, he forces Tae-oh to take drugs, and Tae-oh immediately experiences hallucinations and loses awareness of what’s going on.
The next day, Tae-oh wakes up as a murder suspect after In-ju and his mistress are found dead. The news quickly reaches the members of the Kang family, and although their reactions vary, all are shocked.
In-ha and Hye-won, who are on their way to their honeymoon, also see the news and return. Uwan, aware of the situation, quickly removes any evidence proving he worked for Tae-oh to avoid being involved. During the investigation, Tae-oh cannot remember anything that happens due to the drugs In-ju puts in his drink. However, all the evidence at the scene is against him. In the holding cell, Tae-oh tries to recall the events but still can't.
Tae-oh is accused by the media of embezzlement. The chairman calls In-ha to question why the news is reported while he had instructed In-ha to block all media coverage. In-ha says he tries but the news release is beyond his expectation, he plans to contact the media to correct this but doing so angers Joong-mo further as it seems like they are arguing with the media. Joong-mo scolds him harshly and tells him to clean up the mess.
Meanwhile, UWan plans to leave Korea using a fake passport. In-ha returns home and finds Hye-won deep in thought. She asks him about the news about Tae-oh, whether it was Joong-mo's idea. She snaps at him and asks why he didn't stop it, but In-ha confronts her and asks why he would protect someone who killed his brother. He also questions Hye-won and Tae-oh's connection and implies that she should stop any involvement with Tae-oh.
During the court proceedings, Mo-gijun testifies against Tae-oh, mentioning how Tae-oh threatens to take revenge on In-ju. They also present CCTV footage of Tae-oh arriving at the hotel room with In-ju and his mistress where the murder occurs.
In the prison, In-ha visits Tae-oh and blames him for everything that happens. When Tae-oh is returned to his cell, he is shocked that In-ha does not ask why he kills In-ju, and Tae-oh begins to sense something shady in In-ha’s behavior.
The next day, Mo-gijun testifies against Tae-oh again, claiming that Tae-oh is not drugged by In-ju but has used the drugs himself.
Hyuk-jin reports to Joong-mo about the trial, and he orders Hyuk Jin to investigate the cause of In-ju's death because he wants to understand the real reason behind his son’s death.
Currently, in prison, Tae-oh is so desperate and has no appetite. During exercise, Tae-oh faints. While unconscious, he begins to recall that day. He remembers there was another person next to Tae-oh, In-ju, and In-ju's lover. Tae-oh wakes up in the infirmary, and the doctor helps him. Tae-oh faints due to exhaustion as he hasn't eaten for many days. It seems that the doctor harbors resentment towards In-ju and allows Tae-oh to use a phone in the infirmary to call Hye-won. When Tae-oh mentions that he will find out whether he was the one who killed In-ju or not, the warden enters. He then forces Tae-oh to send money to his bank account for his silence.
The next day, In-ha arrives at Kang Oh's office and takes over Tae-oh's position as the strategy director. Meanwhile, Hye-won goes to uWan’s café, where he initially refuses to help Tae-oh. However, Hye-won states that Tae-oh is ready to reveal to the police about uWan's involvement in In-ju's death, so he had better cooperate. In-ha, at the company, orders an investigation into those who might threaten the chairman's position.
Hye-won calls and speaks with Tae-oh using the doctor’s phone at the infirmary. As soon as the call ends, Hye-won sees In-ha standing right behind her. Hye-won panics and dodges, but In-ha just embraces her. He wants to be close to Hye-won and receive her love, but Hye-won does not love him back.
The next day, uWan visits Tae-oh in prison, posing as his lawyer. Tae-oh asks him to investigate Mo-gijun, who seems to hold the key to many mysteries. In his office, In-ha receives a call from Gi-jun, and they appear close. Soon after, Tae-oh is sentenced to death for killing In-ju.
TL;DR Han Tae-oh investigates In-ju’s drug network for revenge. In-ju uses photos of Tae-oh and Hye-won kissing to blackmail Tae-oh, threatening Hye-won’s safety. At In-ju's club, In-ju forces Tae-oh to kneel and take drugs, causing Tae-oh to hallucinate. Tae-oh wakes up as a murder suspect for In-ju and his mistress’s deaths. The Kang family is shocked.
