The day before, Tae-oh is at the columbarium, reflecting on his mother. Hye-won comes to offer incense and comfort Tae-oh, telling him he needs to be strong. Hye-won also gives Tae-oh a letter that his mother left for him in her keepsake box.
Later, Tae-oh returns to the first house he lived in the town where he first met In-ha. He recalls his journey – meeting In-ha and planning to take down Kang-oh. Back at his city house, he places his mother's portrait on the shelf and erases all the plans and diagrams he had made to help In-ha inherit Kang-oh. That evening, Tae-oh visits Joong-mo, who is still unconscious, and declares that he will protect him instead.
The next morning, Seong-ju visits his mother in prison and tells her that he no longer wants to live her dream and that he has always been miserable. Geum-seok finally understands her son's pain and apologizes to him.
An emergency shareholder meeting is held with the goal of electing In-ha as chairman. Hee-ju is worried, but Seong-ju tells her everything will be fine. In-ju's wife and Hee-chan join In-ha's side, but while they are celebrating, Seong-ju's employee arrives to announce that In-ha has been arrested by the prosecutor.
Meanwhile, it turns out that Park Sa-jin's daughter, the doctor who had helped Tae-oh in prison, tells her father that In-ju had tormented her to the extent that she couldn't bear it and had been self-medicating for a long time. Park Sa-jin promises to fulfill his role as a father.
News of Kang In-ha's arrest quickly reaches the meeting. The doctor then calls Tae-oh to say that her father, Sa-jin, wants to meet him.
Uwan and Mr. Tak’s group find the prison warden who had killed Gi-jun on In-ha's orders and take him in for questioning.
Tae-oh quickly meets with Sa-jin and convinces him not to support In-ha, agreeing to let him have Kang-oh Energy in exchange for one share.
At the prosecutor's office, In-ha is calm, thinking they have no evidence to charge him, but to his surprise, Mo Gi-jun is still alive and brought into the room to confront In-ha.
Through a flashback, we learn that the doctor found Gi-jun right after he was attacked, a scenario Tae-oh had predicted and asked her to keep an eye out for. The doctor calls Tae-oh, and he visits Gi-jun, who finally agrees to tell him the truth about In-ha.
Currently, in the interrogation room, Gi-jun testifies against In-ha after seeing his true nature.
The prosecutor and the audit team quickly go to In-ha's office and seize the books and documents for investigation. Meanwhile, in Joong-mo's hospital room, doctors rush in for an emergency.
After some time, In-ha is in prison and receives a letter from Joong-mo, which turns out to be the decision to change In-ha's surname from Kang to Baek. In-ha then laughs maniacally. At home, Hee-ju calls Tae-oh and invites him to meet her at the Kang residence. He arrives and meets Joong-mo, who is sitting in a wheelchair.
Fast forward to the day In-ha is sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes. Later, Tae-oh visits In-ha in prison and asks him why he betrayed him. In-ha replies that he can no longer remember, perhaps because it was Han Tae-oh. Tae-oh leaves behind a photo of the three of them - Tae-oh, In-ha, and Hye-won - and walks away.
Meanwhile, Hee-ju prepares for a long trip and asks her brother to take care of their mom and dad. Tae-oh meets Hye-won, and they briefly talk about In-ha; they go out to drink like two friends, and Hye-won says she wants to take time to focus on herself now.
Some time later in prison, In-ha hangs himself, perhaps out of regret for what he has done.
Three years later, Joong-mo's city project has been completed, and Tae-oh and Seong-ju still work for him. Hye-won works with the congressman again, and his career advances significantly. Seong-ju takes on the role of managing the Co-prosperity Cooperation Centre, and Tae-oh has become the chairman of Kang-oh. Through a flashback, we see the chairman acknowledge Tae-oh's efforts in saving Kang-oh and appoint him as the chairman.
Later, Tae-oh visits In-ha at the cemetery. On the way back, Tae-oh receives a message from Hee-ju; she is in Mexico, and Uwan along with Tak’s team are enjoying a vacation sponsored by Tae-oh as a gift.
The series ends as Tae-oh has reached the pinnacle of his career and stands looking over the city from the chairman's room, remembering when he was 18 years old when all of this was just dreams.
