At the rooftop, Tae-oh confronts In-ha about his actions, but In-ha declares that he is not the In-ha Tae-oh once knew. The two then threaten each other before Tae-oh departs. Meanwhile, Mo Gi-jun patiently waits for news from In-ha in prison. A prison guard calls him and takes him to a meeting room where In-ha's call is waiting. In-ha apologizes for the delay and says that he is about to reach his peak and achieve his purpose, persuading Gi-jun to take all the blame himself. Gi-jun agrees but also expresses that he is very afraid and is about to be sentenced to death. Later, Gi-jun is taken back to his cell, but to his surprise, the prison guard takes him to an empty lot and kills him on In-ha's orders, leaving behind a toothbrush to indicate that the murder was carried out by another prisoner.
Meanwhile, Tae-oh and his team are planning for Gold H Investment. The chairman learns about the paper company established by Tae-oh, where Tae-oh claims that the company will protect Kang-oh's shares from hostile parties that might attack the chairman.
Seong-ju finally emails Gold H Investment to request a meeting with Michael Chang, and the whole team is excited and preparing for this meeting.
Hee-ju meets with In-ju's wife and emphasizes that she should use her shares to support the Kang family rather than the other way around. Hee-ju suggests that she should transfer her shares to Seong-ju, but In-ju's wife disagrees.
Meanwhile, Geum-suk and Seong-ju are discussing Gold H Investment and the importance of acquiring shares for Seong-ju.
On the other hand, In-ha informs Park Sa-jin about new developments related to Gold H Investment and conveys that this company could pose a threat to his PY Holdings. Sa-jin is not pleased with the news and reiterates that he might abandon In-ha's side if In-ha is no longer useful. Geum-suk, Seong-ju, and In-ha are invited to a meeting by Gold H Investment. While waiting for Michael Chang, Tae-oh appears instead. He introduces himself as the co-CEO of Gold H Investment, surprising everyone. Later, In-ha confronts Tae-oh in the basement and threatens him again. Afterward, Tae-oh returns to base and celebrates with his team.
The next day, In-ju's wife requests a meeting with In-ha, proposing a partnership with him, unaware that In-ha was responsible for her husband's death.
Geum-suk invites In-ha for dinner at the Kang residence. When In-ha arrives, Tae-oh is already seated, showing that the three, Geum-suk, Seong-ju, and Tae-oh, are collaborating, which unsettles In-ha. He immediately makes an excuse to leave while the others remain nonchalantly.
At his home, In-ha recalls when Tae-oh told him that his mother had been killed by his stepfather. Sensing this as Tae-oh’s vulnerability, In-ha contacts the prison warden and requests the release of Tae-oh's stepfather. The stepfather is temporarily freed, given a phone under the pretense of prison supervision.
As soon as he leaves, he receives a message from an unknown number with the location of Tae-oh's mother, and he immediately goes to the temple where Tae-oh's mother is staying. When he tries to take her with him, Tae-oh’s mother refuses and attempts to flee but trips on the stairs and dies instantly from a head injury. Meanwhile, Geum-suk asks Seong-ju to organize a press conference. On their way to the venue, the police stop their car and accuse Geum-suk and her secretary of body disposal and embezzlement. Geum-suk is confused by the situation, but the police take her away. Despite this, she still asks Seong-ju to attend the press conference, but he decides to stay with his mother.
A flashback reveals that In-ha was the one who tipped off the police about the accident and embezzlement by Geum-seok. Seizing the opportunity, In-ha, the only Kang family member present at the press conference, declares himself the acting chairman of Kang Oh Group.
Seong-ju and Tae-oh are furious about this turn of events. Hee-ju meets In-ha and is angry about what he has done, especially to Geum-seok, her biological mother.
Upon returning to his base, Tae-oh discovers that his stepfather has been released from prison. He rushes to the hospital only to find that his mother has already been taken to the morgue.
That evening, In-ha has dinner with Sa-jin and Chae Dong-wook to celebrate becoming the acting chairman of Kangoh, while Tae-oh mourns at his mother's funeral. Seong-ju also attends the funeral and proposes that they must work together to fight against their common enemy, In-ha, to avenge their mothers.
The next day, In-ha arrives at Kang Oh to work as usual but in a completely new position. As he is feeling triumphant, Prosecutor Ha and his colleague arrive to arrest him for being behind the murders of In-ju and Gi-jun. Tae-oh is the one who helped them gather evidence to arrest In-ha.
