Before dinner, Chris shows the foster a house tour while Susie goes to prepare some food. Chris shows them their pool and mentions they also have one in their house in France, and Gemma pretends she doesn't know about that at all. At that moment, Kate comes out of her room and is surprised to see Gemma and Simone there. She then goes downstairs with her dad to prepare the table, while Simon naggs Gemma about how she could remember the dinner date wrong, emphasizing that Chris is an important partner. While he keeps talking, Gemma intentionally drops an expensive vase, and Chris asks Kate to clean it up. Unhappily, she does so but gives Simon a look. At the meal, Gemma sits next to Kate and asks her if she still works as a waitress at her parents' restaurant. Kate feels attacked and acts up, saying that she could be the manager if she wanted but she is more into event planning, like for weddings, divorce parties, or funerals, and implies that someone should be better off out of marriage. Gemma is annoyed by how entitled Kate is, so she asks if Kate is dating anyone. As Susie comes in, Gemma manages to make her curious about her daughter's secret love life as well. Susie asks Gemma why she couldn't book an appointment with her, and Gemma reveals all the details of her suspension. Susie and Chris show empathy to Gemma while Simon tries to leverage the moment to pitch his business to Chris again. Gemma interrupts him and slowly reveals the betrayal Simon did to her and how his business is a failure with Chris's money invested in it. The Parks are shocked that they have to listen to all of this, but then even more shocked when they hear Kate snap at Simon for not telling her that he got the investment money from her dad and failed. Gemma goes on to clarify their doubts, revealing that Kate is actually Simon's mistress. Kate gets angry and tells Gemma to shut up, but she doesn't. She tells them about Kate's pregnancy and her abortion. At that point, Kate stands up and hits Gemma on the head, but her mom stops her and drags her out. Gemma then walks out of the door. Simon chases after her and still asks what that was about, as it wasn’t him who cheated. Anyway, Gemma reveals to him that she found out at his birthday party when she saw his other phone in the boot of his car. Gemma asks him if he will come back with her because they have things to talk about, but Simon is more worried about his investor and mistress and wants to stay. Gemma is mad and tells him that she knows his project is all nonsense and she found out about all that after sleeping with Neil, their best friend and accountant. She lets it sink in for Simon for a while, but Kate comes out and tells him to come with her. Kate shouts at Gemma and tells her that she is just a mad old woman, but Gemma notices something else: Kate is still pregnant, as she didn’t drink wine at all at the dinner. It turns out she was just testing Simon, and he passed because he went back to her even after knowing she aborted. Simon is surprised and decides to go with Kate after asking Gemma not to tell Tom about this mess. They drive off, and Gemma is left lost again. She then goes to Anna and Neil's house and rings their bell. Anna opens the door, and Gemma invites herself in, going straight to the point and asking how Anna knew that Gemma and her husband had slept together. Anna tells her that she knows what her husband is like and accepts him, unlike her and Simon, who don’t know anything about each other at all. They met Simon and Kate in London and decided to get along but stay out of their marriage business. At that moment, Gemma realizes Anna was actually the person who wrote all the negative comments about her on the doctor review website, who has all the time and hate to do it to Gemma. Anna pours her heart out and tells Gemma how much she disliked her for being condescending, yet she still acted like a friend all this time. However, all the tough act is just to cover her insecurity about losing her husband. Gemma leaves and comes back to her house, she updates Becky on what happened and lets her go. The next morning, Simon and Kate cuddle, and they decide to keep the baby, with Kate planning to talk to her dad and ask him to continue funding Simon's project. At that moment, someone knocks at the door. Kate goes to get it and it turns out to be Tom. Gemma drops him off at the door for his dad to take care of him as she has something to do. Tom comes in and starts asking about Simon and Kate's relationship. They lie and say they are just good friends, but Tom doesn’t buy it. Kate then drives Simon and drops Tom off at school. After he leaves, she says they have to sort this out. Simon comes home and finds no one there; he cries in the kitchen, realizing he has messed his life up. Kate returns to her parents' house and tries to convince her dad to give Simon a second chance. Chris initially refuses, saying that Simon is a liar who’s bad at everything. Kate tells him that Simon lied to protect her because he wanted to leave his ex-wife and son with something before leaving to stay with Kate. Kate cries and reveals the bombshell that she’s still pregnant and needs his help, but Chris says he will help her but not by giving any more money to Simon. Disappointed, Kate leaves, and Chris looks up, asking someone if that's what she wanted. It turns out Gemma is there and blackmails him into doing so, threatening to tell everyone about their daughter's scandal if he doesn’t. Gemma then goes to the hospital to see Ros. Luke tries to warn her about something, but Ros shows up, interrupts them, and leads Gemma to a room where Simon is waiting for her. Simon guesses that Gemma has spoken to Chris to cut him off, but she reveals that she didn't do just that; she persuaded Chris to hire a new developer and pay her every penny when the project pays off, and she and Tom will keep the house. Gemma tells Simon to leave the town, but he refuses. Gemma is furious when she thinks about everything she has done for Simon, only for him to cheat on her, and smashes his phone. At that moment, Ros brings in someone, Martha, a social worker who wants to talk about Tom. Gemma realizes she has been trapped by Simon and Ros to be framed as a bad parent; she shouldn't have trusted Ros all along. Gemma exits the room with Simon's car keys, and he follows her, asking her to work things out, the same thing he said to Kate that morning. Gemma has had enough and throws his car keys on top of the hospital, telling him to go fetch them, then she drives off. Gemma goes to pick Tom up, but Simon has called ahead, asking the school not to release Tom to her. She tells the teacher that she and Simon are having a problem and unless Gemma appears to be a threat to Tom, they have to let her take him. Gemma manages to drive Tom away just as Simon arrives at the school. Tom tells Gemma about his encounter with Kate that morning and asks her what's going on. Gemma doesn't answer, and he threatens to open the door and jump out. She stops him and drives off in a direction that leads to a grass field. She stops the car in the middle of the field and gets out, asking him what he thinks is going on. Tom starts to say how Gemma is always working and doesn't take care of him and the family, which is why his dad had to cheat. In his view, his dad is just a loving man but so miserable he feels compelled to cheat. Gemma realizes that even her son doesn't like her; her only family doesn't want to be around her. She goes to get her medical shears as Tom keeps telling her how she should spend more time with her family. The scene cuts to Gemma arriving home alone, nearly crashing into Simon. He asks her where Tom is. She tells him Tom is with Becky, but he doesn't believe her and tries to call Becky. Gemma makes herself a drink and tells him how he made her waste 14 years of her life with someone who's better off with someone else. Simon says men cheat all the time because it's just a biological reason, and Gemma should just suck it up and move on. While doing so, he calls Becky and finds out Tom isn't with her. Gemma slowly tells him that he took away everything she has while showing him some of Tom's hair in her hand. She then continues to tell Simon that if all men cheat, maybe she should protect her son from becoming someone like his father. Simon doesn't know what happened, but just the idea of losing his son somehow makes him suffer so much. Gemma tells him at least now he can feel a fraction of what she feels. He shakily runs to find Tom, then sees him waiting at the front door with Carly. Tom comes in and is furious with Simon; Gemma told him everything. He cries and runs upstairs, and Simon finally loses it. He attacks Gemma, slamming her against the glass door multiple times until she collapses on the ground with her nose bleeding out. Outside, Kate arrives and is surprised to see Carly there. Suddenly, Anna runs across the road and enters the house after Simon calls her. She finds Gemma lying on the ground, bleeding profusely from her nose. Anna calls an ambulance and expels Simon and Kate from the house, while Tom comes downstairs to be with his mom. Skip forward, Gemma wakes up alone on her bed in the morning, goes to Anwar, and finishes the divorce papers. Ros asks Gemma to come back to work, but she refuses and coldly looks at Ros who is saying sorry to her. Gemma spends the morning with Tom in the town center, then a very pregnant Kate comes across. She comes over to say hi and tells her she and Simon are moving away to London. Simon arrives to pick Kate up, and he looks at Gemma and Tom from afar, then drives off. Gemma just relaxes then someone shouts for a doctor. Gemma runs towards them and asks Tom to bring her bag. She helps the person and saves him from a heart attack.
