Gemma tries to call Tom, but he doesn't answer, so she drives to Simon's house and sees his son having a great time without her. Gemma follows Tom to the school and runs into James. Gemma tells James that Tom has now moved in with her ex-husband. James comforts her, saying that Tom is just a kid and likely wants to live in a big house with a pool and a game room. James asks Gemma to get breakfast together the next day, and she reluctantly agrees. Later, Gemma goes to see Neil and gives him an envelope, asking him to investigate Simon's finances. Neil walks into Simon's new workplace and asks him to go out for a drink later. Meanwhile, Gemma waits for Tom in front of his school. Gemma and Ros wonder what the appointment is for, but the assistant refuses to say. After Tom leaves, Ros asks Sian to join her for some tea in the coffee room. It was just a trap Ros set up for Gemma to meet Sian. Gemma asks Sian to have dinner together with the excuse of fixing the tension between them. Sian is surprised but agrees and suggests that they should have dinner at her house. In the evening, as Gemma is ready to go out, someone rings the bell, and it's an estate agent sent by Simon's request for a valuation. Gemma is infuriated by Simon's dirty game but doesn't have time and just tells the agent that the man who sent him there isn't her husband anymore and if he does that again, she'll call the police. Later, Gemma arrives at Sian's house while Neil is at the bar meeting with Simon. Gemma and Sian discover they have more in common than they initially thought. Sian is also a single mother with a son in college, and she shares Gemma's disdain for her ex-partner. Meanwhile, Neil gets Simon to reveal details about his business. Simon explains that at the beginning he received some help from Kate's father, but his luxurious lifestyle now was mostly due to a lucky tip from an American company. He wants to say more but then notices Neil is distracted by some young women nearby, and their conversation takes a different turn. Neil states that he has changed and is now more focused on his marriage with Anna. However, Simon is more interested in discussing about Gemma and how was she when she slept with neil. Despite Simon's insistence in talking about Gemma's body and performance, Neil refuses to engage, insisting he is a different person now. Sian tells gemma that after her ex, she now only dates women. At one point, Gemma directly asks Sian why Tom visits her. Initially, Sian refuses to answer, but Gemma convinces her, and she reveals that Tom suffers from anxiety and insomnia. Gemma is concerned but appreciates Sian's good advice. Meanwhile, Simon manages to invite the woman Neil was secretly checking out to their table, and Neil enjoys talking with her a bit too much. She rings the bell, but when no one answers, she heads to the back door and sees Max dancing in his room. It's awkward when Max notices her. Gemma thought Tom would be there, but he had changed his mind. Intending to leave, Gemma instead asks if Max has any wine. Inside, a quite drunk Gemma questions Max about Tom, making him uncomfortable. Pressured, Max reveals Tom said he doesn't love his mom. Heartbroken, Gemma leaves and walks to the back of Simon and Kate's house, spotting Tom from a distance. She tries calling Tom, but he doesn't pick up. She also sees Kate in the house with a man who isn't Simon; the man kisses Kate before leaving. Realizing she might be watched, Kate looks into the night, and Gemma walks away. She tries to get in a taxi to go home but spot a club and decides to go in for some fun. She texts James to come over, and he does. They kiss, and Gemma tries to take him to the bathroom. James gets what she wants to do but doesn't want to rush things like that. James suggests going to his place, but Gemma doesn't want to, so he leaves. After a guy flirts with her inappropriately, Gemma decides it's time to leave too. while walking out, She sees Simon leaving the pub. Gemma approaches him to talk, but he just pulls out his phone and takes a picture of her. Then he hops in a taxi and leaves. Gemma goes home and tells Anna what happened. Neil isn't home, and Anna doesn't think he'll come back tonight; she suspects he's cheating on her again. Gemma receives a message from Simon with a picture of her drunk and unable to stand straight, threatening to show it to Tom. but gemma can’t think right now, She throws herself on the couch and passes out. The next morning, she is woken up by another real estate agent sent by Simon. She slams the door on him and goes make some coffee. The doorbell rings again, but this time it's James with a bag full of breakfast treats. Seeing that James is into her, Gemma goes straight to the point and tells him that she is a messed-up single mom. She smokes, drinks frequently, and is afraid of emotional attachment. She used to hook up with a young man named Charlie until he caught feelings, and she offered to pay him 50 pounds each time. James, however, appreciates her honesty and comforts her about Tom. Gemma comes close to kiss him, and they get intimate. After that, they kiss each other goodbye, and Gemma sees Neil sleeping in his car in front of the house.
