Episode 3 of the Netflix series Bodkin starts with Darragh's body being prepared for his funeral at the morgue. The podcast team - Gilbert, Dove, and Emmy - drive to the wake in Sean's car. On the way, they see Seamus angrily confronting Fintan, the organizer of the upcoming Samhain Festival, about holding the event so soon after Darragh's death. Gilbert stops the car to step in, but Seamus leaves in a huff. At the wake, Darragh's sisters are mourning him. Gilbert, Dove, and Emmy enter the house, where Darragh's coffin is in the center of the room. Dove talks to Mary Donovan, the undertaker who says Darragh's death was due to an accidental fall caused by intoxication. Dove then goes to the kitchen, where Seamus is eating. He accuses her and the others of exploiting people's grief for their podcast. Dove defends herself, saying she's just doing her job as a journalist. Seamus brings up a past incident in London involving Dove that resulted in Krtek’s suicide, clearly trying to intimidate her. Outside, Dove shares a drink with Mary, who flirts with her. Dove is flattered but tells Mary she's drunk. Damien calls, telling her the police found Kretk's laptop in her apartment and are starting a formal investigation against her. He urges her to return to London, but Dove decides to stay and continue investigating in Bodkin. Gilbert sees to the woman who is Franks’s friend again who reminds him of the money he owes them. When he asks her about Malachy, she claims not to know him. Meanwhile, Sean defends Emmy from some rude local kids outside the wake. Later, Emmy talks to Fintan, who tells her about seeing a "bog monster" after taking magic mushrooms at Samhain 25 years ago. Gilbert speaks with one of Darragh's sisters and learns that Darragh had been in prison and returned to town with Malachy, whom he met there. Another sister of Darragh tells him that Malachy took advantage of Darragh by making him rent land. Darragh had been in love with Malachy. When Malachy disappeared, his brother Seamus took over the lease. Dove continues her investigation by breaking into Seamus' locked house through the cat flap. She finds a stash of money and a gun, as well as evidence linking Seamus to the disappearances of Fiona and Malachy. She then returns to the pub to share her findings with Gilbert. Gilbert and Dove chat and then leave. Outside, Frank confronts Gilbert, so Dove punches him and they run away. Later, Gilbert shares his money and business problems with Dove, and they bond over feeling unappreciated in their careers. Meanwhile, Fintan tells Emily he heard a car crash on the night of the Samhain Festival but only saw a mythical blacksmith named Jackie emerging from the lake. At his house, Fintan reveals he was once friends with Teddy but ditched him for a girl the night Teddy disappeared, causing a fallout. We learn Fintan's nickname "Shitpants" came from an accident at school, and the scene ends with Fintan and Emmy getting intimate. The following day, Dove feels too hungover to attend the funeral, but Gilbert insists they go. Dove then urges Gilbert to find a way to get Seamus to open up. At the funeral, Gilbert meets Seamus once more, and they head to Seamus' boat together. On the boat, Gilbert shares about his wife's cancer battle. Seamus starts to share his own past but grows suspicious of Gilbert's intentions. He asks Gilbert what Dove is searching for. Gilbert explains Dove's theory about Seamus, Fiona, and Malachy. Seamus admits he loved Fiona deeply and considered Malachy his "rock," but they vanished one day.

Meanwhile, the woman opposing the Samhain Festival approaches Dove and Emmy at the funeral. She mentions a car crash, which Emmy links to the one Fintan talked about. The two girls check Google Earth and spot something resembling a car in the lake. They decide to inform Gilbert. Later, the team gathers at a bog where Dove and Emmy suspect the car from the crash 25 years ago might be submerged. Dove enters the water and discovers the car. They get a tractor to pull the car out of the water. Inside are two skeletons - the remains of Fiona and Malachy, missing for over two decades.
